Advice please!! Injured from burst hot water bottle..

This is a difficult one, as you're not supposed to put scolding hot water into it in the first place, so if it does leak, you won't get burnt!
I have a nice scar from almost the same thing happening!

Mind you, the hot water bottle was about 18 years old and very well used!I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care
