Hi,
I was planning on taking my girlfriend to New York for her 30th in September but after reviewing my finances and finally facing up to reality it's clear I can't afford this. Can anyone recommend something to do maybe in Europe that would be just as good/special for her 30th??
Thanks.

Depends on what kind of girl she is and where she has been before? Venice? Disneyland Paris? My friend had her honeymoon in Iceland and it looked like a special place, all cosy log cabins and thingsI want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul, I want you to notice when I'm not around0

How about one of the cheapy cruises? just cause they are cheap doesn't mean that it feels cheap if you know what I mean?
Coloner - Personally that would be the last place I would want to go, I hate the place!!Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
Another one here who does not like Paris at all.
How about a country cottage in the UK, if that is your thing. Log fire, gorgeous scenery etc?2 angels in heaven :A0 -
I went to Brighton for my 30th and had the best birthday ever, there's loads to do whatever her tastes, lots of pubs, clubs, resaurants, walks, culture. I was much much more into going out and partying then (how quickly I've aged!) but the best bit was on the Sunday we went to The Grand and used their spa facilities - entrance and use of facilities £20 e- and I had a massage, it was the best hangover cure ever!DF as at 30/12/16

Thanks all for your replies some good ideas there. I was toying with the idea of Paris but thought it was a bit cliche and also being a bit selfish I've been there a fair few times!0

Was thinking of something similar for Hubby -
Sorted him a first class Eurostar to Lille for his birthday weekend (through website railbookers dot com - can't do the link). They have a lot of other trips that look good.
Flying - Barcelona - haven't been myself, but lots of friends in their 30's have been and adored it.
UK - Jersey/Guernsey or Isle of Wight. Cornwall.
As I missed out on the Lille trip (don't ask, he went with son - Donny Osmond was in the UK so I skipped out on him) .... we went to a really nice spa hotel in Oswestry, Shropshire, next to the Llangollen Canal. Weekend last September we were the only ones in the spa suite at times, steam railway at Llangollen, etc - which we enjoyed, but then I am 20 years older than your young lady .....0 -
Must add another recommendation for Barcelona here. Took my OH there for her birthday- said pack a bag, we're going out of town for the weekend, (it helps I know where the passports are). Managed to keep the destination secret until our flight was called! If you get onto lastminute.com you can get cheap flight/hotel deals for Barcelona - short flight, very interesting city. No need to eat in, stacks of restaurants/supermarkets/tapas bars for food.
In return, for my birthday got taken on a surprise visit by Eurostar to Paris for the Moulin Rouge show. Both weekends were a hit with both of us, although we're in our 40s.There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
We went to Italy for my 30st last October. Flew to Venice, than took the train to Florance, Pisa and Rome. 7 nights cost us appr. £300 including flights (which we booked in March). It was the best ever, I could have not chosen a better destination.0
