Rotunda Birmingham or A.N.Other at Easter

Hello there,

I'm looking for a one, or two night, stay in Central Birmingham for Friday 2nd April (and 3rd if two nights). I'm looking for something that's special (4-5*?), as it will be a special occasion - the plan is to go to the Jewellery Quarter on the Saturday ;)

I came across the Rotunda apartments, which do look brilliant, but before I jump in I just wanted to ask if anyone else had any other recommendations?

Thanks.

I think the rotunda apartments look like great fun.

There are nice hotels but I think that is so different - I live near enough that I can catch a taxi for less than the price of a hotel but I've beenn tempted to book a night at the rotunda. It will lovely, so central and new and the decor looks fabulous.

    I'd go for that :)

You can jump straight on the train from Moor Street (behind Selfridges) to the Jewellery Quarter. You could walk it but I'd jump on the train - takes 6 minutes and costs £1.40.

  • We stayed at the Rotunda at new year - the apartment was stunning with everything you could think of, way better than a hotel room. Brilliant views from floor to ceiling windows too. Id love to go again but at £180 a night it was a little pricy - it is all self catering afterall.
  • PS. Itihaas is a fab Indian restaurant somewhere in B'ham - I really recommend it!

    Just to update on this.

I have booked a room, and in MSE style got the 'best' price. On their website it says that is where you will find the cheapest price, if you find a cheaper price elsewhere that will beat it. Basically, I found a listing on laterooms that was cheaper than their rate and so they gave me the laterooms price minus a bit

Now, just have to decide what to do during the day/evening on 'Good Friday'. Thinking about the Think Tank Science museum, or Sea Life centre, but think they may be quite busy. Also considering whether to try out Purnell's (or Itihaas as per recommendation above).

Ooh, I still haven't made it to Purnells but friends say it is sublime. Much better than Simpsons.

You must go to Purnells its wonderful.
But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more
