Please Please Please for the sake of your wealth do not buy timeshare or holiday points.....it will leave a very nasty space in you wallet.....please read the crimeshare website and then sit in a darkened room untill the feeling wears off..........allready i can feel the apologists and financialy confused (those that are sure timeshare/points have saved them money) reaching for there keyboards.....you woz robbed.......get over it......

Firstly, I would not go to a presentation after 'winning' a free holiday - this is hard sell timeshare and nothing else.

I do not consider myself an apologist for timeshare - we have owned for seven years and think we have done well. It hasn't been cheaper than package holidays - what it does is improve the quality of holiday we get for a similar price. When we went to Florida, after some smart shopping on flights, four of us went in a two-bed apartment for two weeks for less than £400 each.

I only post to put the other side of the coin. It does offer good value for money but you need to work for it (like everything nowadays) and you need to know your way around the systems - you need to be aware of what you are getting into - not financially confused:p and certainly isn't for everyone.

How hard is it to say "no thanks"?

I used to read a Timeshare section on a holiday review website, and reading some of the messes people got into after attending presentations and signing up to buy, I'd say the answer to your question is 'very hard indeed'.

One lady couldn't understand how she and her husband, being 'sensible and careful people' had signed up to a timeshare.

You may be different, but I'd certainly not want to waste my time or money driving to a presentation when I'm fully aware that it will be a hard sell job.
