Praise for our local beat bobby!

OH went off to work this morning in our car, as soon as he was out of the road some bloke parked his car in front of our house (really badly may I add!) and wandered off. I thought he was going to a neighbours house and considering OH would be out all day we don't need the space so I didn't mind.

OH gets home and the car is still there so he has had to park in front of a neighbours driveway (we don't have one and the neighbour is ok with this luckily) because there is nowhere else to park in the road.

An hour ago a beat bobby walks past (not uncommon in our area funnily enough) and knocks on the door. He asks if the car is ours, we say it's not and explain what happened so he makes a call and now the car is clamped for not having any tax. The bobby assured us it will be towed away tomorrow if the owner doesn't pay the fine. There is a baby seat and quite a lot of personal items still in the car, so I think the owner will have parked it in our road as they still need it and our road is a dead end so they thought the police would be unlikely to venture down there!

So...for the inconvenience this guy has caused us and the neighbours I would just like to say a big NA NA NA NAH NAH :p to the person who owns it.

Pay your car tax and park it in front of your own house next time!

And a big thank you to the beat bobby!

Yes. Peeps with no car tax often park several streets away from where they live to avoid the DVLA detector van. It can backfire if there is another untaxed car owned by someone in that street or if a householder complains.

So, do you own the road then to get this personal parking space outside your house?

If I did I would be charging the tax dodging git who parked there £1 a minute for the privilege ;) as it is I am happy to walk down the road from the car to my house, laughing all the way at how quickly he got caught. :D

I was just going to rant that I parked my car up this morning outside someones house but away from the main road, nipped to the shops then met a friend for lunch. I hurried back to my car after realising that the tax has run out and some !!!!!! has clamped it ;):D

It's actually nice to hear that tax dodgers are getting caught, there's no excuse for not having your car taxed and still driving it. If people can't afford the tax then they should use public transport until they've saved up enough for their tax.

Agree completely that the owner should be reported for the no tax and dealt with accordingly, however, had he been taxed, he would have every right to park on a public road outside yours or any other house.

If you break the law you will not get my sympathy. If the car had been taxed, I would not have to laugh at his [STRIKE]misfortune[/STRIKE] stupidity would I? :D

I know that anyone can park in front of my house for as long as they like and I accept that. I have never said that he had no right to be there but most people would agree that it is annoying and sometimes inconvenient to get home to find someone else parked in your usual space. ;)
  • Nice to see tax dodgers getting fined, why should they get away with it when the rest of us have to pay?
