Keeping costs down on a large group holiday

Hi everyone
Looking for some advice please.
I am in charge of organising a 10-14 person holiday for a relative's 50th birthday.
Does anyone have any tips on keeping the costs down?
Or any resort/destination suggestions as I am not sure where to book. Everyone wants somewhere a bit more special than the usual haunts (eg majorca, tenerife etc)
Ideally we are looking for a villa holiday as its much cheaper than hotel rooms for everyone. But car hire is an expense we cant afford.
Help!

I'm organising a group trip to Canada for 15, and saved a significant amount (around 25%) on BA flights by using their Group sales on 08705 332266. I'm not an agent or anything - you don't have to be. And you only pay a deposit, not the full amount at the time of booking - balance due about 6 weeks before travel.0

Some internal AA flights in the US have BA codes, so yes you can do triangular round trips.
