Egg Delay Tactics

Wondering if anyone has suffered delay tactics when asking asking for loan terms and conditions?
Wrote initial letter to Egg asking for a copy, they wrote back wanting proof of address, name change etc, sent everything they asked for recorded delivery with the £1 fee they requested.
Received my documents back fine a few days ago.
Letter arrived today saying they had not received my documents and also returning my cheque!

    Hi there

May I ask if this account is still running?
Or paid off, if paid/settled a few years back there may be a problem in them locating everything, but saying that they should still hold so much of your details going back 5/6 years.

You could if you want to give the Information Commissioners Office a call and see what they suggest on this for you, here:
    https://www.ico.gov.uk/Global/contact_us.aspx
Hope they can help in this case, but just as long as you have an account number to go by with reasons for being mis sold, you can still continue to write to reclaim, they have 8 weeks in full, more info on the link below here:

Good luck, please let us know how you get on and ask for help anytime.:)

  • Thank you! Yes, it's still running but under a debt management plan. I have been able to give them an account number.

    Your welcome.
Not a problem with being on DMP, you can still go for it, and of course as you do have the account number, then I would continue to reclaim, this will be fine.;)

  • Ok, well, I'm worried it might not be that straightforward. Firstly, I think I had PPI on it but can't remember which is why I'm after t & c info. Secondly, I have a credit card with egg on the same DMP, I wrote to them to ask for info on this as well also can't remember but have acount number. They wrote and asked for the same information, but couldn't send it as the loan department had it. I phoned the queries number on their letter to ask if loans could share the info with cards, but they would not speak to me as I can't remember all of the security answers I set up years ago! Is it possible they have crossed their wires on these 2 accounts? Wondering if I should start again, sending SAR letter, £10 chq, and resending documents?

Arh I see what you mean.

Right then, a SAR with payment do this and they have 40 days, they should of course return the payment with a letter to explain if they are unable to supply anything for you, but they should as the account is still running.;)

Any problems and they do not supply them, then contact the information commissioners office (ICO) for advice on this here:

  • All - my advise is don't bother with SAR requests etc with Egg - just send the letter saying you think you've been missold (as per the templates - you do obviously need to choose those reasons which apply to you).

I had my card PPI refunded within 10 days (to my account), and my loan within 3 weeks (two cheques and a credit to my bank account). Super fast and efficient. And I'm on a CCCS DMP.

Not saying it'll be the same for everyone - but I got back nearly 3K after just one letter and no phone calls. Go for it.

  • Thanks, only problem is that stupidly I have no paperwork for these accounts, just account numbers, I strongly suspect but not 100% sure I have PPI on these.

    Hi possum

Lots on here have just had only they account numbers and if you already know your reasons for being mis sold, you can still continue to reclaim, sometimes they send paperwork back with their replies, however, it is entirely up to you, good luck either way you want to do this.;)
