Hi everyone!

This is only a small niggle but it's bugging me :( and I have no idea what the settings would come under! :o

Basically when I used to put a cd in my disk drive or an SD card in the built in card reader on my pc I used to get a window asking me what I wanted to do ie. view in Explorer or copy in itunes etc. Now when I put them in nothing happens?

As far as I am aware I have not changed any settings?

Can anyone please tell me what settings I am looking for so that it prompts me to ask what I want to do when I have inserted them?

Hope that makes sense :D Cheers!

  • Someone at some time has had the checkbox for "always do this action" checked to undo it do the following ....

    1. Right click on the drive letter that corresponds to the cd drive or memory card
    2. Select Properties
    3. Go to AutoPlay tab
    4. Select “Prompt me each time to choose an action” and click OK

    That should sort it

Thanks! I didn't realise it was called autoplay!! I had looked through loads of stuff for the settings too!

But.....this is really strange it is exactly what I meant - but for some reason the boxes were already checked for both drives to prompt me each time? I have just tried changing it then changing it back and also restoring defaults but it's still not working?

    Thanks very much both! :T

I ran it separately for the two drives and they both seem to be working ok -now! It's been like that for over a year and been bugging me but I have never worked out how to fix it! :o :rotfl:
