hi, I wondered if anyone could help?
I'm part of a roleplay group and we have, for nearly three years, hired a school for the weekend. We've always been responsible, and there has always been praise for how it's been left. The school had recently mentioned a price increase, but we were not expecting it to come in to effect until april. we had been paying approx £800 for fri night-sun afternoon, were expecting an increase to £1000 (but prepared to go to 1250).
We made our booking and paid our deposit for februay (before the increase was set to come in), and have now been told 10 days before the event that they want £1450 from this event and onwards.
can anyone please advise as to whether they can legally increase the price once booking of dates and deposit has been completed? We fully understand that the increase will apply afterwards, but wonder that if deposit is paid, they have to stick to the terms that applied at the time of the deposit being taken?
many thanks

Do you have a contract with them - if so, want does that say .... I suspect that as you only paid a deposit & they are giving you 10 days notice, I think they can do this ... have you looked around for something else ....???

we've been looking, but obviously 10 days to fnd somewhere, get the previous deposit returned, check for suitability etc isnt enough time unfortunately.
I'll have to double check the contract details with those that booked it.Crys (26)
