Finding new job whilst under redundancy notice!

We have been told our foundry is closing down.We will get official redundancy notice in the next couple of weeks.

The thing is our MD says if anyone finds a job after we get this notice, and leave early we will not get any redundancy.

Is this correct?

If you resign and leave before your redundancy date then you employer does not have to pay redundancy, decent employers will let people leave early and still pay them if they can without disrupting the business.

Best to not tell them you have a job unless they become more open to negotiation.
  • Yes that is correct. If you find another job and leave before you are officially made redundant then this is classed as a resignation and you will lose your entitlement to redundancy pay.

If you get offered another job delay the start date if you can until you have the cheque.
    Then tell them.
