Used Vehicle Checks

Ok, after WEEKS of looking at piles of junk all around the country I have found a car that is spotless, passes all the HPI checks, sounds good (engine-wise) and is a decent price......but the thought of buying a car that might go wrong has had me in tears.....

Is it worth paying the £150+ that most companies charge for these 'Used Vehicle Checks'? I don't really have the money but are they worth it??

I don't want an RAC chap to take it out for a drive, take a look under the bonnet and say "Yeah its alright!" and then slap some money in his hand as this is what we've done ourselves.

When it says a 155 point vehicle check - what are they checking?

I am getting panicked at the thought of spending money we don't have.....I just don't know what to do!
I believe that I have the strength to make my dreams come true
