Bought a VoIP phone from eBay, under the drivers listed from a link in the page, this handset was supported for Windows Vista & Windows 7.
Therefore i bought the item.
Item arrived, open the packaging, plug item in. Go to download software from the TopCom website, software starts to download, then for some reason stops to download short.
The software states that its 8Mb in length to download from the website, the software starts to download, but ends about 2.5Mb into the download.

TopCom Butler 4812 VoIP Drivers - (the bottom one)
http://www.topcom.net/downloads/letter/B/110.html
At this point im stuck, when i open the .zip file, i cant extract it, nor use it. Ive googled and cant really find any other software out there for this item. Ive emailed the TopCom company and am awaiting a reply, thats if they are still around.
Ive asked the seller of the item to download the software, and send it too me via email if he can, but apart from that..
Were stumped..

Sorted,
Ended up googling the driver name, and taking it from the otherwebsite that has it listed. It takes you too a directory of some website, which i dont really like downloading non-genuine drivers due to past viruses downloaded.
All sorted now, and internet phone is working..0 -
Ok,
New PC arrived. software that was obtained above installed and does not work.
New PC is windows 7, old laptop is Windows Vista.
Back to step 1.0 -
For Windows 7, Topcom Butler 4072/4812/4872 models require 64bit drivers. There are currently none available. I phoned Topcon support twice and talked to two different people. Both said that they do not think there will be any more new drivers for these discontinued phones.
We also have a Siemens S685IP which has a quality feel to it plus many more functions. But the two Topcom Butler 4072 and 4812 phones we have do a good job without being flash like the Siemens. Sound quality is good. DECT has excellent range. We use 850 mAh batteries now and they last many days.
Topcom is a big company but shame about the 64bit drivers :-(
I guess the solution is to plug them into old laptops and make it part of the network.0 -
an old thread but there must be loads of folks out there, using Topcom Butler VoIP phones and other makes based on the same chip; such as the Premier Noblesse VoIP, GT-1900U, Tiptel and so on..
Driver Version 1.1 now supports Windows 7 and Vista, in addition to XP and 2000. Free to dowload at:

V1.1 Butler 4012/4812 windows 7, vista, XP and 2000 (32bit only) driver Windows 7, Vista, XP, Win2000
Make sure to read the .pdf file!
Quick Start Guide and Full User Guide can also be downloaded from

BTW.
not sure if 'for sale' type messages are allowed here, but I have a spare Butler 4812 and a Premier Noblesse Twin.
Both are DECT phones with a good range, capable of using SIP providers such as VoipBuster and many others, SJ-Phone, Skype and Landlines.
Message me for full details, if anyone is interested.0
