Solicitors v Licenced Conveyancers

We are about to get into the house buying/selling game and wondered if anyone has used a Licensed Conveyancer? If so did you find them helpful, accurate, professional, quick etc..
Was it a good or bad experience - would you use one again or is it best to use a solicitor?

You're much better instructing a solicitor/conveyancer based on local recommendations from people who have recently bought or sold. There's no difference in the job they do, the outcome is the same, so it's down to who would do the best job for the most reasonable fee.Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.0

There are good solicitors, overly busy solicitors, bad solicitors and lazy solicitors.

Licensed conveyancers are governed by the Council for Licensed Conveyancers. Their Rules as far as client monies and professional dealings are very similar to the Law Society rules and regulations
As GM quite rightly points out there are good and bad ones everywhere. you want a recommendation above anything else and someone who specialises in Conveyancing which could be either of the ones you mentioned.0 -
Much as I would like to say that you should always use a solicitor rather than a licensed conveyancer I simply haven't got any grounds for making that kind of assertion....There are good solicitors, overly busy solicitors, bad solicitors and lazy solicitors.

That sums it up quite well. You're much better instructing a solicitor/conveyancer based on local recommendations from people who have recently bought or sold. There's no difference in the job they do, the outcome is the same, so it's down to who would do the best job for the most reasonable fee.
Sensible advice.RICHARD WEBSTER
As a retired conveyancing solicitor I believe the information given in the post to be useful assuming any properties concerned are in England/Wales but I accept no liability for it.0 -
Thank you for all your comments - seems it makes no difference as long as we get a good one and the price is reasonable.
Can anyone recommend a good local solicitor or conveyancing organisation in Liverpool?0 -
solicitors are more widely trained and have the backing of other colleagues also highly trained in other areas. that is their plus.
i would always want a solicitor if the quotes were the same - clerk v legal exec v licensed conveyancer v solicitor
good luckMy posts are just my opinions and are not offered as legal advice - though I consider them darn fine opinions none the less.:cool2:
My bad spelling...well I rush type these opinions on my own time, so sorry, but they are free.:o0
