Can't Leave SKYTALK!!!

Is anybody else having problems leaving sky talk?
We have decided to leave sky as we no longer want the TV as we are paying for it and not using it!
Without the TV you can't have the phone or broadband according to them, as it breaches teh terms (stupid but their loss)
Anywya on trying to leave they are saying that they own the line and as such they won't sell it to anybody- therfore I can't switch line providers without a reconnection and losing my phone number!!!
Is there a way around this? Physically nobody is going to show up and string a new wire to my house so why can't they just sort this out?
Anybody got any tips??
I was hoping to join Primus as per the pages and get the £9.15 line rental, plus a standalone broadband but if I have to pay for reconnection then I might even be better off sticking with SKY despite teh SKy+ box sitting on the floor unconnected!

You would have to be reconnected to BT - you may be able to take your number with you though. Is there a way around this? Physically nobody is going to show up and string a new wire to my house so why can't they just sort this out?
BT do have some free connection deals - I believe there is still one at the moment.
This does highlight the problems of moving your line rental away from BT - it does limit the choice if you want to move again.0 -
Call BT and ask for a "Return to Donor". You will have to keep your line rental with them for 12 months, but should be free, but no guarantee. Remember even if it is Sky you were paying the line from your house to the exchange is still owned by BT, and Sky were paying BT for it.
If you look at the bottom of this page BT says it will contact your provider for you.

If you're currently with another provider (including cable customers), you don't need to contact them – we'll do it for you so you don't lose connection. And you can usually keep your phone number0 -
Sky have moved you to their network. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/digitaltv/a157082/sky-moves-to-fully-unbundled-network.html
Whilst they control network the dont own the number,so as long as your number originated from BT you can return to them free of connection under the return to donor scheme.
Call BT on Freephone 0800 121 8085 option 1 to arrange it.0 -
I have now spoken to BT and they have siad that I can reconnect with them and no reconnection fee, and likley to keep the number!
GREAT
BUT...... I know that Sky will try and cashnin on the fact that I am not out of contract with SKYTALK until August, however I ma not eligible for their phone if I cancel the TV, so then no exit fee
So I phone them to discuss it and they tell me there is no way on earth BT can take the line over again and they will basically ignore the third party transfer notice or something like that if BT send one!
Now I am just bored with this, everybody tells me one thing sky tell me another!!!!!
Anyway just need to try and organise cancellation of the account as of any date that Bt can sort out the transfer (if they can)
SKY truly are EVIL!!!!:eek:0 -

Don't cancel Sky, let BT take the number back, BT own the number Sky cannot stop it. Your line will have gone, then cancel the TV. Sky may try and charge you for the missing months, but all consumer contracts have a clause allowing people to end the contract early and detailing the penalty for ending it early. Sky cannot hold you hostage.0
