maybe next time you're asked for advice you could just say "Sorry, you were so rude last time that I've retired."Signature removed for peace of mind0

It used to be 'not the done thing' to talk about money. My first husband was a good example of this, although maybe if he'd talked about it more - and listened - he'd have made some better decisions. When we moved to Essex in 1990 he said he'd never heard so many people talking about money matters, he wasn't used to it.

I find it is best not to offer advice, unless asked and even then I find it is not often taken.
Some will invest their life savings solely on advice from a tied agent and / or independent financial advisor without checking whether they have any qulaifications."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

A well known comic, milud!0 -
"The person concerned actually nicknames me his "financial advisor""
Perhaps he was being sarcastic and was really saying 'shut up and leave me to make my own decisions'. If you offer advice, do it lightly - almost in passing - and don't get upset if it's not taken.
That's my advice, anyway!0 -
I suppose some people just like to make their own decisions about money, heating etc and aren't receptive to others suggesting what they should/shouldn't be doing. Are you sure it didn't come across as a mini lecture?0

Not Invented Here - ie he didn't think of it himself.
Given a suitable interval he might of course.:)0 -
I'd say definitely NIH. So he might come round once he thinks of it as his own idea.0

Maybe you just have to wait until your relative is financially struggling and then refer him to a financial adviser, telling him that he'll probably value the advice more because he'll have to pay for it.
Smile sweetly and say "If you'd listened to me, my advice was free and now you'll probably be paying for exactly the same words of wisdom."0 -
Confused , some people don't want to know- that's why the U.K. LTD gets to keep a pile of dosh, a very BIG one !0
