Hi Everyone, I wonder if anyone can help me-this question is neither money-saving or Old-Style but I need an answer fairly quickly and everyone on here seems friendly and helpful. I am currently planning my wedding, the problem is I am still married to someone else. I have sent the divorce forms to the court and cannot forsee any problems with the divorce, we have been separated for almost eight years. However I have (stupidly, in hindsight!) booked this wedding for August 6th this year. What I want to know is the likelihood of the divorce coming through in time for the new marriage-does anyone have any experience of timescales on an uncontested divorce? Someone please either put my mind at rest or give me the bad news in time to cancel everything. Thank you. PJ

I think mine took around 6 months in total...from us having been separated for 3 years, that is...
Do check with your legal advisor though, if you have one. Also, there are online guidance sites which are more specific than MSE - you'll want to check those too...0 -
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0

ok I work in a family court and we aways say three to three and a half months from start to finish, if its really straihtforward, the money side of things is all sorted and your (soon to be ex) husband returns the paperwork promptly. Its also worth phoning the court you are issuing your petition through as they will have knowledge of their workload. Good luck!0
