Strawberries from seed
I want to grow strawberries from seed this year and was planning to use growbags for the plants when matured. However, do i need to pinch out the buds for the first year or will they fruit okay for this coming year? I hadn't planned to permanently bed them (maybe i should do though) I'm growing these:

Any advice from more experienced growers would be most welcome!

Actually, after googling i wonder whether it'd be better to buy plants and take runners to keep a constant supply. it's this first years bud and pinching out though that i'm a little confused about. I want to plant up this year and harvest as well. So when ordering plants, should i opt for runners or bare root plants? Help!0 -
My own experience was that you won't get fruit off strawberries grown from seed this year (or at least anything worth having). I would imagine the same would apply to small plants or runners. Mine have been a bit of a deadloss to be honest - the best thing I did was pick up a big pot plant in Tesco that was reduced and stick that in the garden - got a fair amount of fruit off that - or at least my youngest son did - he ate the lot before anyone else saw them! My ceramic planter is dying so I need to have a rethink this summer.Adventure before Dementia!0

The first year with young plants, it is best not to let them flower. Take off the flower.0
