Are TV competitions worth doing

Recently whilst ill I watched loads of telly and entered commpetitions for cash prizes - can anyone tell me if they are really not worth entering - especially on pc. How are the winners selected? Is it just a real scam for people who phone and get charged there and then - and the ones that enter online dont get charged dont get a chance to win?

    Why another thread?
  • Ok, say your programme gets 500,000 viewers and 100,000 of those enter the competition, 50,000 online and 50,000 by phone (charged anywhere between 50p-£3.00), you will get around £50,000 in revenue, whereas the prize will never exceed a value of £20,000 meaning you make £30,000 profit. Each viewer, therefore, has about 1 in 100,000 chances to win, but still gets charged the cash. See why they do it? :D

I can see why they do it, and I can see why I enter online nothing to lose ;)
No you're not a vegetarian if you eat any animal or fish, so do not insult genuine veggies by calling yourself one!

Thanks to everyone who posts competitions. You are the stars of the board :T:j:T
