hsbc current account

Sometime in jan 2007 I got into arrears with my managed loan by about £600 as I had lost my job and was struggling. I explained the situation and was offered another loan to pay it all off and start again. I refused as the payments were £50 a month extra. We worked out a repayment plan and I carried on, promptly forgetting about the new loan offer.
Come april the exact amount of the loan offered was credited to my current account, as I was expecting money off my Dad I spent it.
In July I recieved a letter from hsbc informing me that my overdraft limit of £2970 was being removed. Having a managed loan an overdraft would never have been granted even if I had asked for one!
After a very long time of arguing between us they finally admitted it was a 'clerical error' and should never have happened. I did manage to get them to remove all charges, nearly £1200 and am still paying back the original amount. I also have a default on my credit record because of this and a nasty debt collection agency to deal with.
I doubt theres anything I can do to clear this so would just like to warn others that HSBC are w*****s!

!!!!!!?
Surely you spoke to your dad about the large amount of money coming into the account and then he would have said it wasn't him?
HSBC are 10/10 in my books0 -
money going in was from his estate, hsbc said it was all okay and the money was all mine.:(0

You're totally in the wrong.
They messed up by putting the money in the account, you messed up even more by spending it.
Do not blame the bank, blame yourself. You spent money that you knew you had to pay back, and when you couldn't, you looked for someone else to blame.0
