hi have just discovered i can have nine days off work from 29th July, we were thinking of taking the twins camping (my first time) and will be travelling from kent, i'd really appreciate any ideas of where to go and what kind of things i should remember to take? We've got the trusty transit van so can fit quite a lot of stuff and need to make it as cheap as poss as moneys tight at mo (:rotfl: :rotfl: when ain't it?!) We've got a portable gas stove and sleeping bags and am on look out for either large tent/ trailer tent/ awning (have been checking fleabay but if anyone can give me a heads up on anywhere else  )
I was thinking near somwhere sandy so kids could take buckets/spades/ frisbie/footie and also hopefully a playground or field nearby, any ideas please?

what about somewhere on the south coast - not too far to drive with little ones. somewhere like Selsey Bill (West Sussex) or maybe a bit further to the new forest. Also worth thinking about the Isle of Wight, lovely beaches and as a child you feel like you are really going somewhere different because of the ferry trip.
Little word of warning - friends of mine got ripped off buying a trailer tent on ebay, whatever you do, only agree to cash on collection/delivery and dont do a money transfer.0 -
I bought a lovely trailer tent with lots of extras on Ebay for £200 and sold it again the next year when we got a caravan.
You could go to Sheerness, nice camp sites there.

Hi,
We're staying at the Ridge Farm Camping and Caravan Park in Dorset which is £12 per night. We are going on the 29th and only booked a few days ago so they should still have availabilty for then.
The best bet for your equipment is (as mentioned in an earlier post) probably Argos as they will have everything you need and have a good sale on camping stuff at the moment. It may also be worth looking in Blacks or Millets as we picked up our tent in their sale at a good price.
Also worth a look is e-awnings.co.uk as their sale is very good. However, judging by the time left before you go if there are any problems with your tent there may not be time to get replacement parts out before you go. So it may be best to stick to the high street.
Hope this helps0 -
Hi Ayla 261,
I am in Kent and we are going camping to Cornwall,Bournemouth,Devon we usually travel around and stay on a few different campsites
We are leaving on the 27th July which is also my birthday!!!,We travel down that way as the beaches are beautiful,Also because money is tight for us so a good place for beaches,Long interesting walks,Barbie nights midnight walks etc etc,Which doesn't cost a fortune unlike Kents coasts most are filled with arcades, fairrides etc which doesn't come cheap
Also might drive into Sidmouth for the festival.
I know the driving is a little far but beautiful sights on the way.
Not sure how old your chilodren are but mine are teenagers and they love our camping holidays.
Hope you find somewhere nice,Enjoy.Lucky No27
