Hello everyone
As previously posted I am selling my laptop and was unsure how to erase all the files/personal stuff etc. I've everything backed up that I need.
I didn't have the proper discs to do this so have got ones now from a friend. The windows sticker with the product key is on the laptop.
Microsoft Works was on the laptop will it be removed as well?
So is reinstalling XP easy to do? Do I do it first or download DBAN first?
Feeling abit nervous as I haven't done this before lol

use your friends pc to download dban (or your own laptop if its still running or any other pc) and burn to a cd, pop it into your laptop, boot up from the dban disc and it will wipe your disk.0

If you use DBAN *everything* will be wiped form the drive.
So use DBAN first then reinstall XP, you'll loose Works (Unless you can find a install disk for that as well).Laters

most laptops come with a factory restore partition, use it then wipe free space with ccleaner. dban will wipe everything, including restore partition.!!

Hello everyone
I'm just getting to do this now so have just went to the dban website and going to download the following: dban-2.0.0_powerpc.iso - so will download and run it.
Then after that I'll reinstall Windows. Is this straight forward enough?
It comes with a System CD and Recovery CD's. Is it as simply as inserting the discs and following the prompts?
Not a technie as you've gathered lol0 -
much easier to use factory restore if it's there, and it leaves it for the next owner.
You can't just run the iso, you have to burn it to cd as a disc image (not as a file), and boot from it.!!

Thats only for older macs running on the powerpc architecture.
