Overdrawn while having savings with same bank

Well it may have changed but on the BBC's Whistlebloer program Barclays would refund charges for customers with a large savings balance. I forget the threshold, 50k or a 100k something like that.

The charges are purely about making money, they just had to describe them as fees for service to look better from a legal standpoint.

I'm on the side of the consumer generally but I don't think it would be unreasonable of the bank to refuse, sure they could've used the right of off-set but your friend could've easily transferred the funds over.

If I were going to go on the issue I'd be saying something to the effect of under what circumstances woudl they use the right of off-set as it seems they only use it when its to thier benefit.

I very much doubt anything will come out of this.

Why should the bank remind him that he has savings with them?

Hardly a good argument against the charges.
