I've just found a great bargain online with Travelodge, who are offering Supersaver deals for online bookings (non-refundable), especially if you book 21 days or more in advance.
Here's their blurb:
'Supersaver rate explained
Only available to buy online.
Must be booked at least 21 days in advance of stay.
Payment to be made at time of booking.
No refunds available.
Available at over 150 hotels.
Subject to availability at the time of booking. '
I've just been able to book a 2 night stay at their North Weald, Harlow lodge for a total of £82, which is close to the Epping underground station, so I can travel straight into London on the Central Line on London Underground. The first night was £15 per room per night, the second night was £26 (Saver rate) per room per night.
Top tip: book each set of rooms separately (add them to the basket & pay in 1 transaction) to get the benefit of the lower £15 room rate, otherwise, asking for 2 rooms for 2 nights automatically changed the price to the £26 rate for both nights.
There were other locations offering the lower rates, and the website does give you the option of cheaper alternatives when you're searching, giving their distance away from your first search.
I think this makes a great alternative, as I can drive down to the Travelodge, giving us the option of relaxed evenings out after our days spent in London. It has also meant that we can afford 2 nights instead of 1. :T
