Internet freezes when answering the phone.

I bought a new line filter for my home phone and it cleared up our inconsistent internet problem.

If all filters are present and working, get BT or whoever is responsible in.
We had that problem, along with very slow broad band, turned out the cover on the box on the telegraph pole had come of, and exposed all the connections to the elements, causing bad connections over time.....

BT Engineer just stuck a machine on the line, it told him the fault was X meters down the line, he went outside, looked down the street to the pole, and said thats your problem - look.....
