hi,
im a 42 year old male, and have 3 children to support although i dont live with them.
I was involved in a major car accident last year and had to have part of my intestine sewn up. The doctor at the time was concerned about a lump inside but advised me to wait and see.
Am now getting sharp pains and am concerned about it.
I am doubly concerned because 2 family members died at the age of 42 of cancer
I am seeing a specialist on monday but the pain has got much worse recently.
I have terminal insurance but think maybe i need critical illness or phi.
Has anybody got any advice, both as to websites and to the best course of action
Am i right in thinking i would be better off taking out insurance now rather than waiting for the result, knowing that i can cancel if need be.
thanks

Firstly, good luck on Monday. I hope that it's all something simple and easy to resolve and that you never have to fall back on any type of insurance cover.
All I wanted to advise is to be wary of any critical illness insurance policies, as they often have a 60 day (somethimes more or less) period for the policy to "kick in" and anything diagnosed within this period is excluded.
Just make sure you read T&Cs before you proceed."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Most of these types of policy have a pre-existing condition clause not only for anything that is diagnosed but for symptoms that are under investigation as well
There are others on this forum that have much greater knowledge of this class of insurance than me though to know any particular products that are not as sticted on the pre-existing section. All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

Almost certainly they would wait for the outcome of an ongoing investigation before offering cover.
