New build on rent from housing association

A friend of the other half asked for information on plumbing in the washing machine and connecting up the gas cooker.
On Monday she moved into a new build flat with a housing association on a
rent scheme. We visited the property a found the taps for connecting the washing machine had been put about 3m away from where the item was going.Furthermore the gas didn't have a bayonet or new type fitting as the
housing association were concerned that people would blow themselves up.
Site manager says he has followed the spec required to HA.
My questions are
Just to connect a cooker via a bayonet (twist and turn type)must the corgi
registered engineer turn up.Also how about removal?
Is it common for the taps to be put 3m away from the initial actual site of the w/m?What are the maximum length that the red, blue and grey drain off can be bought too?
Surprising that the housing association say that they like to help their clients
on their website.Whilst the houses are of a nice design,it's comforting to know that the services inside are as friend.Clearly with kids a washing machine and gas cooker aren't easily installed here.
I guess they have been good enough to install the toilet seat and the light switches.

for your own peace of mind, i would get a corgi registered gas engineer to connect your gas cooker. if they are new build, why not ask your HA to put this change of siting for washing machine taps on their snaggings list for the builder to deal with ?0

I totally agree about having to call a Corgi reg gas engineer. They would also
need to be called out just to remove also it would seem.As with the washing machine a 2.5m reached.Furthermore a long grey waste was also required.
More down to the cowboy workman who put the piping connectors so far away from the original w/m location.HA were baffled by this.Did nothing to get it changed.
Thankfully she has moved in.What a pulava.
Have fun in you are moving to a new build HA in Crawley.0 -
I live in crawley, and my cousin has just moved into a new build HA house- She's had a nightmare witht them, apart from the fact she cant get cable, satelite or freeview and the normal telly has bad reception, the whole layout of the downstairs of the house is odd - the kitchen cupboards dont go with the house at all her neighbours house is worse.:j Baby boy Number 2, arrived 12th April 2009!:j0
