Trees & drains...

Hi
It looks like the roots from a stand of trees in our neighbours garden have smashed up our drainage system causing it to block and back up etc. The plumber is 99% sure but will confirm this week as they are putting a camera down there.
It looks like our drainage cover will deal with the clean up and chopping the errant roots (if required) but may not pay for repairs to the damaged drains themselves.
Has anyone experienced this type of situation previously? Would we be able to get next doors insurance to cover repairs if we could prove their trees did the damage?
Any thoughts appreciated

You should claim against your own home insurance policy as most will cover root ingress.
It is very unlikely you will be able to claim against your neighboors as you will have to prove they could have "reasonably" avoided the damage0 -

Thanks Dacouch
Given they have only just - very belatedly - lopped all the trees down as they had been significantly damaging their own propertyfor some time (one was growing from directly UNDER their house - ouch!) I may be able to show there was an ongoing problem they knew about but ignored. We were literally days away from finally going round to demand they sorted them out when they came down
But you may well be right in that looking into the coverage on my own policy is the best and most likely bet!Go round the green binbags. Turn right at the mouldy George Elliot, forward, forward, and turn left....at the dead badger0
