Been away for a while with exams and all but now that they are over I thought I would write a quick update.

I have managed to meet my 2010 target and exceed it :D

Over 55% of my debt has been repaid and I still have the Nov and Dec pay cheque to make further in roads plus over £300 that I have saved up (I don't think I will be using any of that) :j

Hope everyone is on track with their targets!

    Thanks PPB!

It's all down to living at home and not really paying board :o. Will start paying board from the end of this month.

The exams were horrible, get a feeling that will have to re-sit them :(

    How are things with you?

  • Whatever it's down to, you have done a great job!! Don't make excuses for yourself. You could have spent the money in so many other ways but you haven't. Be proud of that! You have paid off in 9 months more than I've paid in a year. Only just though!!

Don't be so silly, you will have passed with flying colours!! How many more do you have?

I'm ok thanks, pretty pleased my debt is finally under the 9k mark but I'm getting impatient to see it drop even further. I'm really down again but taking steps to get sorted out.

    Thanks PPB!

I suppose you are right in some ways but I seem to have rekindled my desire to travel after visiting Marrakech so I guess it's going to be a long hard 2011 with paying board, debt busting, saving for a driving fund and saving for a holiday fund!:(

Flying on the orange bus was some experience but one of the cabin crew on my way back was well fit - shame am hitched!:o

I hope you are right about the exams! If I have passed these then I only have 1 more else I will have the resits (max of 4) plus the 1.

Well done on being under the 9k mark, I remember reading about you needing to get your car fixed recently - it is some achievement to still make it under 9k. I know come end of April you will be way below 7k.:D

One step at a time and remember not to be too harsh on yourself, you are your biggest critic but sometimes you over do it! (and if there is anything I can do then you know where to find me):)

I forgot you were going away... did you have a nice time? I wonder who was on your flight!! Did you fly from Luton? It's a bit of a mad rush, especially if you aren't used to it but then that's the price you pay for 'cheaper' flights. :o

Hey, aren't we all our own biggest critics?

Luckily my friends brother fixed most of it while I was up at theirs for her wedding otherwise I don't know what I would have done :)

I'm sure you can save for both things as well as debt bust, it'll slow you down yes but it'll be worth it!

It was really good thanks! Well worth a trip! Yes it was some experience as I had never flown with a budget airline before. You are right, the trade off for cheaper flight is comfort and being flogged various things every half hour. Getting there was really painful but luckily on my way back we managed to get seats by the emergency exit. We flew from Gatwick.

Yes we are but sometimes we need to realise that we can't always be too harsh on ourselves :)

I am glad to hear that someone you can trust fixed your car!

That's what I am telling myself, I might try to re-work my budget to see if I can make some savings particularly as I won't be paying for expensive coffees and dinners till the results come.

  • Every time you would have bought a coffee, pop the money into a holiday fund?

I'd like to point out we apparently have more leg room than Monarch!!

Your results will be fab, think positive!!

That is a wonderful idea, I will split it between driving and holiday fund 80:20. The debt busting can stay at the current levels and then once I am debt free I can do another 80:20 split with the repayment monies - between savings and DF/HF

In that case I will just stick to flying with the Orange Bus then! :p

Next stop will be Paris on the Eurostar? Cairo with the Orange Bus? *starts daydreaming* :rotfl:

I am really pleased this weekend, finally got my PPI reclaim - £382.56! Used a vast majority of it to repay my debts and saved the other towards my 365 day challenge!

Takes my debt busting since Feb to £5k and ahead of my 365 day target!

I am debating whether to chuck the monies saved to debt busting or to use it towards xmas pressies!

A part of me thinks that I really should re-do my SOA but another thinks that is pointless as my monies get spent in a certain manner and there isn't really much room for cut backs except entertainment which I am unlikely to cut back on!!

If I persevere and repay at the rate at which I am repaying I should be debt free by summer 2011!

    Time to stop rambling!
