  • I think my friend just likes eating out unfortunately... but I will be strong and say no. Watch this space.

I'm now going to work, ready and raring to go. Not. Good luck with the studying.... I wouldn't beat yourself up for going to see Alice for a quid. It's only an hour and a half:D

Just a quick update I have just crossed the £1,000 mark for my debt repayment so am well proud of myself. :D

To date, I have repaid a grand total of £1,059 which is made up of my usual minimum payment of £450 pm (for 2 months) and an extra £109 through PADs :) (which means I am c25% to my 2010 target and I have paid off c12.5% of my total debt :dance::beer::beer::j:j - as you can tell I have gone a bit crazy).

On the downside, my PADs have been coming down after a trailblazing start - my PAD for today was a pathetic 25p :(

I have minimised my cash withdrawals and for the last 6 weeks or so I have kept a detailed spending diary. I think this has really helped me stick to my budget which has helped matters. I am hoping to continue being as strict with myself as possible so that I can up the PADs and catch up with the £365/365 challenge - I am currently £23 behind

If you have gotten this far, you are a very patient and a brave person - thank you for reading!! :)

Time for a quick update, I have spent a bit of money over Easter which I knew I inevitably would (mostly on going out for a couple of dinners, travel and a pressie).

However, I still think am on track overall as I am slowly but surely as I am:
    • catching up with my £365/365 challenge
    • PADing on a daily basis
    • having NSDs (a fair few of them; the problem is when I am spending I am spending loads) and
    • putting away something every month to build up an emergency fund (some people would say that the money would be better spent paying off the debt but am trying to get in to a habit of saving as i am a natural spender)
My concerns for the month are the final bills (had a really shocking bill the last time so am hoping that there aren't any nasty surprises this month) and my deposit - we have looked after the place but I just have natural distrust of estate agents. :o

I will be posting a budget / expected SOA for the coming months as I am moving back home (at least for the next 2 and a half months but hopefully longer).

If you are reading this and don't keep a spending diary, I really can't recommend it enough. I use http://www.spendingdiary.com and have really found it useful.

  • I hope you aren't feeling too guilty about the weekend?

Had a quick look at the spendingdiary.com and might use it at some point but I've currently got a very scientific and evolved process for tracking my spending! It includes 5 bank accounts, 3 spreadsheets and 2 purses!

Hello PPB and welcome to my virtual world!

I must be honest I am still feeling a bit guilty about the weekend. I know I shouldn't be a hermit or too harsh on myself but I guess I have taken looking after the pennies to probably the next level (can't be a bad thing can it?). To compensate for my spend over the weekend I have not topped up my phone this month and delayed my haircut for yet another week (so much for having £15pm for hair cut, haven't had one for 6 to 7 weeks):rotfl::rotfl:

I have two bank accounts and the only reason why I do have it is to get myself to treat the OD more like a debt. Unfortunately for me I can't handle anything that requires me to have an organised approach :o BUT in my defence I am improving cause I am not only updating the spending diary on a daily basis or at least every couple of days but also keeping a spreadsheet where I have 'budgeted' my spend for the month and have an 'actual' column which gets updated every time I spend money.

  • Hey KPR.... *looks around*..... it's nice in here!

Do you look like some mad rocker dude with long hair now? Or an afro?

You will get there, patience is a virtue and all that jazz. I'm getting really impatient, paid off a cc yesterday even though I couldn't really afford too and now !!!!!!ed up my weekly budget thing, especially as I forgot I've got a wedding next week to attend.

I am glad you like it!

Unfortunately I don't look like a mad rocker and don't have an afro but it does look at bit messy and shaby!!

I am sure things will work out and you will be able to adjust your spends!

I have just spent the last 2 hours (on a Friday night :o) on the phone with my gf going through the cashflow / budget she has done for me to take me to the end of 2011!! :o (only one word for me: GEEK)

Right then time for a quick update, as some of you know that I have been keeping a spending diary for just over 2 months now. It really has been an eye opener and I would recommend it to any DFW! I have just reviewed my spending for the last couple of months which I have pasted below, it makes up for a very shocking read. I started off really well but the last couple of weeks have been dreadful, the spending would put anyone to shame.

The only reason why I have not sunk into further debt is because I got my deposit back recently which, as you guessed, i spent!!

I have had absolutely amazing support here thank you and would love to continue my DFW journey but unfortunately I really have not been able to keep up so I QUIT! Thanks for all your help.
