just spoke to B.t. ! 6-6 evening and weekend package is now 7-7 as i`m trying to get out of this contract without paying £37.50. fee.
Bt said " they can change hours of contract without breaking my contract, is this correct ! ?
I guess it depends on whether you are adversely affected by the change.

I am absolutely disgusted by this form of basically, "scamming".

I have just tried to move my phone to Sky, and i have just received a letter from BT stating that i owe them £76 to cancel the contract as i renewed last month!!!

After phoning them, they said i was sent a letter, which i NEVER received, that supposedly stated that i had renewed for another year.

I DID NOT sign anything to say i wanted to continue with them.

There is no way i am letting this go.

    This is almost legalised fraud...

    I've thought again.

I'm not sure what the exact difference is between 'adversely affected' and 'material disadvantage', but I'm not too bothered by the semantics. To avoid an argument, lets go with 'material disadvantage' as that is what it says in the terms & conditions too :)

    Changing the terms (notification)

    45. Sometimes, we will need to change the charges and the terms and conditions of the service. We will publish details of all changes online at www.bt.com.

    46. We will also let you know about a price increase or a change to the terms and conditions that we believe is likely to cause you material disadvantage at least one month before it happens. We will let you know about other price changes and changes to the terms and conditions with your next available bill or by an alternative method if this is simpler.

    ...

    48. If we have made a change which is to your material disadvantage, you will not have to pay a charge if you decide to end your agreement early, unless the Tariff Guide says otherwise. However, once we have told you about such a change, you must let us know that you want to end the agreement within 10 days.

Now the problem is, even if you can prove there to be a material disadvantage, BT will say they announced the change at the end of January
    http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/utilities/2010/01/bt-cuts-free-evening-calls-by-one-hour-
saying it would start 01-Apr-2010. That's presumably to comply with term 46. And now it's 26-Mar-2010, then it appears anyone who wished to terminate the contract has blown the terms described in term 48. (i.e. advise within 10 days of notice)

Of course, if anyone thinks the terms are unfair anyway, then they presumably think none of it is enforcible, so why worry? :D
