Is not that straight forward unfortunately, especially with the way Nominet work.
Basically if a .uk domain expires then Nominet will hold it for up to 2 years, while they send off reminders to the register of the domain name, stating that they can "still have it" if they pay a premium "holding fee" of £60-£180.
So, after the domain has not been renewed, you could be waiting 2 years.
Then it gets locked, goes into adminstration which takes about 90 days.
Now, of course they don't just release domain names for anyone to register after 90 days, this would mean that you'd get thousands of people "domain sniping", simply waiting till the 90 days are up and registering it with software.
So, as Nominet likes to keep a "fair play" policy, they release domain names at random times after the 90 days.
This can be anywhere between 2 and 365 days.
What domain is it exactly?
If its a well known or common domain, e.g. "popular.co.uk", then you'll probably be facing some stiff competition with people watching it and most likely any professional domain-name buyers will be using sniping software.
