No because you don't pay brokerage fees on unit trusts (which Blackrock's Continental European Fund is). If you buy from a discount broker you won't pay an initial charge either.

If charges are your main concern, why not compare it to an index fund instead. e.g. Legal and General's European Index Tracker with AMC of 0.65% and other expenses of 0.19%:

I've had a look at that Index Tracker, and it seems broadly comparable to the ETF and resolves the query I had around the two types of product, so cheers again for giving me an example.
