hi i have just sold my first item on ebay. the buyer has paid instantly via paypal. it says i'm ineligble for seller protection, but the buyer has a confirmed address. i quoted postage as special delivery so will have a tracking number etc, so will this be enough to protect me from being scammed or is there anything else i should do. thanks for your help

Just pop it in the post.
You might very well get scammed but remember 99.9% of all EBay transactions go without a hitch.
Personally all I would do is check feedback and check EBay name and address match PayPal name and address.
If item was over £200 for me I might just check 192.com but only if something had cropped up in the above suggestions.
Take the plunge and enjoy.

woah...................
why are you ineligble?
does the buyer have a history?, is he a noob?
is it an EXPENSIVE item?
otherwise, follow what Hintza saysmoney saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

Paypal seems to be flakey about buyer protection and address confirmation.
Buyer sends me payment. No protection, no confirmation. I refund.
He expresses surprise as previous payments HAVE had confirmed addresses. He emails paypal. They give him some cut and paste reply with instructions on how to link his ebay account with paypal account... bleh. He does this and pays again. Surprise surprise, no protection or validation.
It's starting to get annoying for both of us. He spends 25 mins on the phone to paypal. They tell him it must be a glitch, and also email me on his behalf to confirm that his address is confirmed. He sends a test payment of 6p to me. Wahey! Protected, AND confirmed!
He pays me the full amount for the third time. No protection, no address confirmation.
Paypal extract the urine. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0
