Leaving first direct

For those who have left first direct to take advantage of the £100 incentive, does one have to contact first direct to close the 1st Account or will first direct close it automatically when all the standing orders and Direct Debits have been transferred to another bank?

Also, the switching out has to be done after six months but before a year is up (amongst other conditions) - does anyone know whether this means the switching to the other bank has to be completed within the year or is it enough that the switching process has started?

Thanks a lot!

Why don't you call them and ask? :)
As far as I understand you just need to close the account by calling them between 6-12 months of opening. You don't need to 'switch' anywhere.

Are you leaving to get the money or because you are unhappy with the service?
