I'm just concerned as I'm going away for 20 days next week and I don't want to come home to an infestation
No suggestions other than scrupulous hygieneAs this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add it to the existing thread, which may have more suggestions for you. Good luck :T

so i'm sitting here itching all over after going into the kitchen 20 mins ago and finding an evil little cockroach crawling around the floor. lost it, then OH went back and saw a mouse. so searched on here for help and the idea of hoards of them crawling around is horrible.
we're in flats and we clean.... in fact i mopped the kitchen floor with disinfectant just last week....(probably should do that more often now not once a month). we don't leave food lying about and we hoover and clear away......... so frustrating and it's probably due to another flat but not what i needed when half asleep.
hopefully we can find some of the repellents mentioned on here and will pull out the fridge to check behind there tomorrow (hasn't been done in a while....). both mice and cockroaches?!?! my home isn't dirty (quite the opposite). ARGH!:happyhear0 -
I live in Spain, so you tend to see the little !!!!!!s in the summer. They don't last long in my flat though - the cats make a quick end of them. Apparently cats are excellent cockroach killers.0

I'd buy a camper van and sleep in the street rather than live with them. I worked in a psychiatric hospital that was one of the Victorian Asylums, all turrets and towers and long dark corridors with flickering lights. It was just in the days of the care in the community process, when all the patients left were the ones who were completely institutionalised, locked up in secure wards, wandering round like lost souls or rocking in corners. Over the Christmas period I was the only member of staff present when it was pitch black outside and moved a filing cabinet to get my glasses, leaning over with my head and shoulders behind it without looking first. Picked up my glasses and put them on.

All other bugs and beetles, no problem.
But not roaches.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0
