My local branch of The Works are currently selling Johnsons seeds at three packs for a quid. Lots of flower and vegetable varieties available.
Edit : Just out of interest I popped in at lunchtime and the three for a quid offer includes dwarf runner beans as above. The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water
And I look like a tramp and tramps like us

It didn't occur to me that seeds might have a sell by date so I checked the packs I bought (all flowers) and five were sow by 2011 and the other was sow by 2012.
In Colwyn Bay they had two boxes of veggie seeds. One box was full of larger sized packs (beans, peas, etc) and other full of smaller sized packs (peppers, spring onions, lettuce, etc). I didn't check any of the dates on these.
Edit : I had another look today and some of the beans and peas were sow by Sept or Nov 2009 but quite a few were Mar or May 2010. Most of the smaller packs were sow by 2011 or 2012.The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water

I think peas or beans would be OK and would buy them regardless of the dates on them, the flower seeds I looked at may have been OK but didn't want to risk them not germinating (have had this problem -it depends how they have been stored) and having to buy twice. I am going to look in other The Works when I am in other towns though, thanks!0

Wilkies are doing some interesting own-brand bundles; just do not pick the 2 for £2.50 option and buy two packs of seed normally priced at £1.23!
The best deals are on the 97p seeds - 3 for £1.50 and includes peas and beans.
They also have some multi-packs which could be a good deals as well.
Poundland have a small range of multi-packs - 6 packets in one except for peans and beans, three packs in one. Whilst the number of pea plants would not provide a massive yield, the runner numbers are more than adequate for most families. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
