clio 1.4 alize loss of power

Hello,
Just wondering if anyone can help? I have a clio alize 1.4 t reg...today randomly it started kind of juddering like I was in the wrong gear....but I wasn't I put it down to not knowing the car and maybe my driving HOWEVER: when I was going up the hill out of town the car suddlenly dropped revs and slowed right down nearly to a standstill and I nearly got bumped into...
I've had a look on google and a few people are stating that there are various problems with this model....has anyone had this problem?
If so how did you solve it?
I'm taking it to the garage thursday and want to get an idea what I'm looking at.
Thanks

    Is the air filter clean?
  • it could one of a number of things causing this, from something relatively simple and cheap to something not.
does it always do it? does it do it when the engine is warm or cold or no pattern to it?

It could be one of the coils. If it is like my 1.4 clio, each cylinder has its own coil and when one of these go it starts running really rough. They cost about £40 each and you would need 4, plus about an hours time in the garage. - £200 all in.

Hello thanks for that, the garage have said that they suspect it might be the coil pack? same thing I'm guessing they showed me four leads that run up to the engine, will know tomorrow!

Sounds plausible but I'd have hoped they'd be more certain. A coil pack can be tested with a multimeter by testing the resistance across the HT and LT path and comparing with MFR specs.
  • Hello I've got it back the garage were a little vauge...
they told me that a spark plug was a little lose and now it's running ok again HOWEVER he said that there still could be a problem with the coil pack...very vauge just hope the car still runs!
