We ordered Sky...Help please!

Afternoon all
Apologies if this is in the totally wrong part of the forum.
Me and my girlfriend ordered Sky 2 days ago. We orginised a date for the Sky man to come and fit the box for us. Which is fair enough.
When we ordered sky over my mobile phone, it turned out that we had to get the telephone line re-activated at our flat.
Me being me, forgot to ask some vital questions regarding the phone line and other stuff until after I put the phone down, so I thought posting here might be a good bet as people have been a great help several times before
Firstly, how do we know when sky have activated the phone line? Does the sky man who fits the box do it when he's here? Do they do it remotely and send us a letter to tell us when its active? Do they hire a contractor to do it (am i meant to get in touch with these / they get intouch with me etc)?
Ive read on websites when trying to find the answer that people get diverted to a secondary company to sort all this installation stuff out, but sky called me back regarding the fact I was interested sky and I didnt get transferred onto any secondary companies.
Secondly, how long should it take for sky to email me the contract which they said they would send me? I still havent recieved anything in my inbox (or spam) regarding sky.
If any one could give me a hand with this, Id really appreciate it as I need to ring Sky when my line is up and running so I can order the router and get all the broadband finalised.
thank you!
p.s. We dont have a telephone handset yet so we can just plug it into the wall socket to test it!
p.p.s Sorry Mods, I have now noticed there is a digital TV sub forum. Could you please move this post into there. Thanks

Can you please clarify what you've ordered from Sky? Just the TV package or TV, phone and broadband?
If it's just the TV then i believe you can have this without a landline by paying a one off fee?
If you've ordered all three then i believe from reading other forums on here there is quite a bit of time before the phone line and broadband are set up; you will receive letters with installation dates.MFW 2026 #50: £3,583.49/£25,00007/03/25: Mortgage: £67,000.00

I would have thought if the phone line is not activated you would need to get BT to activate it first before its transferred to Sky0

Sorry, I forgot to mention in my OP.
We went for the Tv, Broadband and free evening and weekend calls combined package which includes the line rental of £11per month.
Sky told me they did a check on the line to see if it was active (I assume they did this by using my post code and address number?), which returned the result that it wasnt activate. I told them we have a white "bt style" telephone socket on the wall and they told me that they will have to activate the line for £39.0 -
Don't you know the current telephone provider, the BT style box could be on virgin cable - if thats the case, BT will come in and put another box in most likely.
Did you ask about switching numbers and also clarify how your existing telephone line was to be switched over to Sky - charges involved if any?
Or were you phoning them from a non landline? I guess they intend to get BT to activate that white bt box then.0 -
lol,
can sky activate a bt line or would bt have to do it then transfer it to sky
Think BT does it - its a real pain when I tried to go to sky.
Sky promised tv, line and broadband. They put tv in, BT line with a new box (then they gave our existing number over to someone else in the process of transferring number from virgin line to BT - for two days this remained the case - we got calls from the other people phoning their own number). Then a month plus went by phoning BT and Sky, because they could not activate the broadband as they had promised (this is inner city not rural so should have had little problem).
In end had to keep virgin broadband for 12 months, after 12 months - told BT and Sky to stuff it and went back to Virgin.0
