Repeated Computer Error.

So I bought this computer in March last year and three weeks into using it, I got a blue screen error which ended up with me having to send the computer away to be repaired by Toshiba.

I got the computer back and for months there was no problem. Then out of the blue (no pun intended) the blue screen returned two weeks ago and the computer was sent away for another fortnight. Now because I am still within my warranty tey said they could fix it.

The problem is my warranty runs out in March and I cannot afford to keep it running and with this computer having a habit of breaking down apparently, can I do anything that can persuade Toshiba to help me.

I was speaking to an uncle and he told me that if the computer has the same error a third time, so long as it is the same error as before, Toshiba will have to supply me with a new computer.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

    What is the error?
Who did you buy the pc from?

It was bought for me by my partner one year ago in his hometown (Enniskillen) and the error was something about not saving to the correct place.

Toshiba said it was something to do with a faulty hard drive or something and Toshiba fixed it both times as they said if it was my fault that I would be charged for it but I haven't been charged yet.

 So if the faulty hard drive was inherent from inception, at the point of purchase - which it sounds like - then clearly Toshiba need to resolve this permanently. The longer this drags on IMO, the greater the probability they start pinning the blame with the faulty hard drive on to you.

How can it be your fault if Toshiba agree that it is a faulty HD or something?

As busty says it must be a inherant fault and as such never worked properly from when it was purchased.

Whats really annoying is starting all over again because everything I gather up keeps getting deleted. I really need to get something to back my work up.

But like I said they haven't charged me for any repairs or anything so clearly the problem is at their end.

I am a bit cautious of saving anything on to this computer as everything will probably end up being removed. All the websites I had saved and bookmarked are gone and they were pretty good websites too.

Another point I want to make out is ths faulty hard drive thing has happend twice. First, a few weeks after the purchase, the second time was about nine months later. How many "faulty hard drives" am I supposed to go through?

Contact them as soon as possible - like now and don't stop moaning about all the probs. until they say something you want to hear.

Did you happen to pay for the computer with a credit card?

So this morning I had an error message on my computer which appeared just before my computer crashed last time.

I rang up Toshiba just to be careful and the fellow on the phone told me to insert a recovery disk. Let me just say that before I inserted the disk, the computer was running smoothly.

I inserted the recovery disk, it deleted what needed deleted but I found when I tried to connect to the internet wirelessly, it would not let me so I rang up and the man said, it sounds like the recovery disk didn't work properly. Try it again.

    I did so. No result.
I ring up again and I am on the phone for a while only to be told that the computer needs to go to the repair shop YET again as something to do with the wireless function has messed up.

Two days after getting my computer back, I have to send it away again. My broadband bill for this month is going to be so low.

My warranty runs out at some point in March and this is going to leave me done for if the computer decides not to work again.

Sorry I didn't write the correct thing in the first box.
My ex partner bought me this laptop and kept the receipt.
I have no way of contacting him as he has left the country (I wasn't that bad).
