Cleaning Karndean

Has anyone used Stardrops or washing-up liquid regularly for cleaning Karndean? I'd like to use these, but Karndean are insistent that you use their own cleaner in case other cleaners damage the floors.

I'd like to know if anyone has regularly used anything with success. So far, I have used a vacuum and a damp cloth, but the floor needs something stronger now.

Washing liquid isnt recommended. After a while the floor gets a build up of residue left by the soap. This leads to poor appearance. The Karndean cleaner is only about £10 for 750 ml. You could do with getting the Basic cleaner and stripper and using this first, then apply their Dim Glow floor protector. It brings the floor back to almost new. Most Karndean stockists supply these but you can get a cleaning pack with all included off E-Bay. Ive recently done our floor and it came up a treat.

Thanks for the info. I have ordered some Karndean stuff from ebay today - I would never have thought to look there without your advice.

No problem, glad to be of help.
Wash the Karndean down first with just warm water.
use the basic cleaner and stripper with the scouring pad to get it back to the original surface.
Then rinse down the karndean again.
apply a coat of dim floor protector one way, wait overnight and apply the other coat in the opposite direction.
You will be amazed as to how well it looks

I've had Karndean floors for years, and products I've found good are Kleer floor cleaner and Astonish floor cleaner. Like the Karndean products, they don't have the salt in them that WUL does. I usually use the Astonish one, as it's cheaper. I use it for general cleaning and then once a month or so, use the Karndean one.

Thanks, tawnyowls. I'll buy the Astonish cleaner as a backup. I use the Astonish range of products all the time. They're great, and do not usually contain as many chemicals as the usual supermarket stuff.

Mind you, now I've been converted to Stardrops, I might try that when the Astonish bottle is finished!
