fan noise in new computer

  • I did the speedfan test,
    fan 1 =3041
    fan 2=723
    fan 3=736

    temp 1=35c
    temp 2 =30c
    temp 3=128c

    hd0=29
    hd1=23
    core=29

    I treid reducing the fan speeds in each case but the noise seems to remain.

    Thanks again

  • Did the rpm definitely go down when you told it to decrease fan speeds? If so, then it is most likely the graphics card or power supply (as the speedfan results will be for CPU and case fans).

    In Speedfan fan, click the Charts tab, choose fan speeds from the drop-down menu and put a tick in all the boxes. Now do something you know makes the fan go fast, and note which one raises in the graph.

    How technical are you when it comes to computers? If you're comfortable with it, you could open the case and start up the machine to try and see which fan is making a noise. If you're still not sure you could always trace the supply wire for the fan and unplug that particular fan to troubleshoot - do this for a short period of time though, especially on the CPU and Graphics card.
    I have had noisy fans in the past and have removed them from the case, removed the fan from the housing case/magnetic housing, cleaned them thoroughly, oiled the axle lighly and reassmbled and have been fine.

    The graphic card fans are a bit trickier to service and they tend to be encased in a copper heat sick and requires a bit more time to get to the fan.

    HTH good luck!
  • - Get a pencil handy
    - detach all fans from their MOLEX except CPU GPU MOBO PSU
    - use the pencil alternately to stop CPU GPU MOBO PSU for only seconds each

    Which one is is the noisy one ?

    - remember to reconnect your MOLEX
