Chimney sweep advice

We've been burning logs in our fireplace this winter and there is an unpleasant after smell. I'm guessing that the chimney needs sweeping.

Can someone tell me the sort of price I should be paying. Also do I need someone that is from a registered chimney sweep body?

If anyone has any reccomendations for the south Hertfordshire area that would be great.

Thank you

I think I paid about £50 last time round (Midlands) -had to find a new sweep as the old one decided he wasn't doing 3 storey terraces any more.
Originally I used someone I found via word of mouth, but then I tracked someone down through this lot, who turned out to be ok.

    Thanks.

I had a look at that website. It seems there are a couple of bodies that represent sweeps.

Can't help with the area but someone said to me to make sure that you get a ticket or something to confirm that the chimney's been swept just in case for insurance purposes - sorry to be vague but I'm not really sure about it:o

I saw a sweeps van today. Written on the side it said "We sweep your chimney whenever it soots you".
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
