Take care what you sign. Many of these so-called "grants" are nothing of the sort. Many require repayment and some authorities even want to put a charge on your home.

  • We have just had a stair lift and a wet room installed in our home.We applied to SS while my OH was still in hospital as the lady on the phone from the SS said that if you apply whilst still in hospital they would look into the application quicker than if we waited while he was at home.He came home from hospital at the end of May 2009 so it as taken about 9 months.
When the OT came to visit our home we asked if the council had enough money for the adaptations or would we have to wait until they had enough funds and she said that the council get the money from the government so it would be available immediately.
These adaptations are a great help and the stairs don't seem like the north side of the Eiger anymore.:j :j
if i had known then what i know now
