Setting epson sx115 to print in black and white?

Is this possible? I have got the printer as one to use when I work from home and I hate it. The ink runs out so fast it is unreal. It is now telling me the Cyan ink is empty yet I only want to print one page that is black and white. Is there a way to disable the Cyan cartridge?

Any help appreciated.

If you want to be sure that colour ink is not being used, click preferences/properties in your program's print window. Then go to advanced and choose "black ink only". Although this should stop the printer from using colour ink when you don't need to, I am not sure if it will let you print when you have completely run out of colour.

Incidentally, it is not necessary to buy cartridges from Epson - you can buy cheaper compatible ones at a fraction of the price (although I think this voids the printer warranty). I have seen other people on the forum recommend this store:

Thanks, it is the black ink only bit that I can't find.

Which version of Windows do you use and did you install a printer driver or just let Windows install its own driver?

running vista and pretty certain I used the dosk that came with the printer as I have the manual icon on the desktop (I hve tried to look in here but had no joy)

Mine's a different model but I get to this page by :

Start/Control panel/Printers

Right click on the printer shown, then preferences will bring up this page ( Black ink only is under Print options on the right)

I get that page but with the exception of black ink only. Ordered some in of ebay so should be here tomorrow touch wood

You could look on the Epson website - there might be an updated driver.

I have an Epson Stylus SX200 and from my experience all four cartridges should be able to print although you may only need black. At the moment I am getting good results from Inksave remanufactured cartridges at £3.28 each. However I have been warned by an independent source that every few uses of other than genuine cartridges I should use a set to clear any accumulated deposits.
