Diplomat Appliance in the kitchen - Problems

Hi

Im not sure this is the correct place to post this so I apologise in advance.

Basically, Ive just moved into a new home where they left all the white goods, which are all made by Dipolmat. Im having a few problems with the washer/dryer and oven and im just wondering if anyone could help?

With the washer dryer, the light comes on the machine and the dryer works but when I set it to wash, it just doesnt do anything, no noise and no water comes into the machine.

With the main over (there is also a top oven which works fine), Im switching it on but the little red light does not come on and it sounds as if its dead, no noise and the fan does not go around.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Hiya, with the washine machine have you looked to see if it is plumbed in for the water enter the machine?
It sounds like you have inherited some old tat! Any idea how old theese things are?
If winter comes, can spring be far behind?
    Spring begins on 21st March.
  • Thanks for the reply.

No dont know how old they are, there are some manuals but they are no help and the lady hadnt lived in the house for around 18 months before we bought it.

Im not sure if the water supply is on to go to the machine or switched off and have no idea how to check.
  • Apart from your main stopcock, you should have a separate one on the cold supply under the kitchen sink. I have a blue plastic lever attached to the cold feed which you have to turn to the left to close, right to open. If it is a screw head type fitting, get a coin and turn it to the right.
We could all learn a little something from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.
  • Brilliant thanks for the reply.

I will try that as the water seems to be ok through the sink and shower. Would I need to turn off the washing machine, turn it and then turn back on for it to take effect or should it just start as soon as I turn it?

Hiya, I was thinking more of the hose that runs into the washing machine, check it plumbed into the water suply at the back. All machines are cold fill now.
