HELP! insurance write-off but can it be fixed?

I was involved in a accident (not my fault) and a car hit my front right wing causing it to dent and my Tyre to pop.
After contacting my insurance and explaining and somebody coming out to take a look at my car they choose to write it off.
Now im not sure weather they choose to write it off as the car is worth less that £2000 and it may have cost them more in parts and labour.
The car is still up my path and the engine still goes, after a friend coming round to have a look he changed the wheel and put the spare wheel on, then checked electrics power steering and everything else was in working order apart from a new wing is needed.
I have a son in law who works in a car parts place and can get me parts that i need, if i got a new wing a new wheel would i be able to use it again on the road? or is there something else i need to do please help!!
