I go to Mablethorpe in April.

Does any1 know of any good days out we will have the car so small travel is ok.

Skegness is 25 miles away

Pleasure island - if i c an get vouchers would be good

Is there any zoos or anything like that near by as I have a toddler at 18 months and a 13 year old boy

  • Hello,

We visited Skegness last april and had a lovely the week, even the weather was good!

Fantasy Island have discounts if you buy the wristbands online-a lot of the rides would probably appeal to your 13 year old.

You can also visit Skegness Butlins for the day, as you can buy day passes.

Last year I got a visitors guide from my local tourist information, there were vouchers for both Butlins and Fantasy Island.

Im sure they were buy one get one free

Hope this helps, and have a lovely time.

This is a link whch had useful info in. I love Skegness/Mablethorpe area and hopefully going there agin in summer. We never get tired of going to the Seal Sanctuary in skegness, there is one in Mablethorpe but Skeggy one is better (look out for discount vouchers). Send of for them brochures in the other thread as they will have discount vouchers in them, you should receive them in time if you apply now.

There are Seal/animal sanctuary's in both Mablethorpe & Skegness. In Mablethorpe it is across the road from The Haven Golden Sands park. There is also a Parrot Park somewhere near Skegness (I've never been but have seen it advertised).

Personally, if staying in Mablethorpe, I would miss out Pleasure Island and go to Fantasy Island at Ingolmells. Fantasy Island like Pleasure Island is a dump (and I don't know why Trading Standards haven't closed down the market) but it has a similar range of rides and is better value for money.

the parrot santuary i wouldnt recommend, ive never been so bored in my life!!! however if you fancy it follow signs on the skeggy to boston road
our local papers have a good range of money of coupons in it or you can pick up booklets from the embassy center or the tourist information
depending on the dates you are coming i would check that butlins is open to the public as spring harvest takes over butlins around that time
fantasy island is ok depending on the ages of the children theres not that many rides for the smaller ones would check before you buy the wrist bands:D
hardys animal farm at ingoldmells is nice if the weather is dry, take a picnic

We went to Mablethorpe for the 1st time last year and are going again this summer.

Its very low key compared to Skegness which suited us just fine.

There is a park, called Queens Park, with an outdoor paddling pool for kids and a boating lake and there is a train that goes on the beach and in the sea that your kids will love having a ride on.

As for days out I am pretty sure there is a donkey sanctuary on the way from Mablethorpe to Ingoldmells. Its on the right somewhere if thats any help.

When does that market re-open ? I remember one time we went and it was closed (I think it was one Feb half term).

Also if anyone goes to the fun park bit check out the prices for the all day wristband. We went and I stupidly bought tickets so DD could have a couple of rides, for an extra couple of quid she could have gone all day. They have different prices depending on what rides are on.

The heritage museum in Grimsby's quite good I hear. Apparently it has lots of interactive stuff for kids too.

According to the website (http://www.fantasyisland.co.uk/) it opens for weekends on the 12th March and presumably every day later in the year.

Tattershall castle is about 30 mins drive away, and raf coningsby is just about next door (if you're lucky you'll see the 'Battle of Britain Flight' taking off, landing or practising as we did last year), I think there's a museum there for the Flight as well.

Just near Louth is Rushmoor Park http://www.rushmoorpark.co.uk/ (again about 30 mins away) although i think you're toddler will enjoy this slightly more than a 13 yr old boy!!!

Lincoln's just over an hour away.
  • thanks guys i really need to start swatting for vouchers we go the 20th of april and the more vouchers i can get the better for me.

Im gonna have to start putting some research into what were gonna do whilst were there.

It is pretty hard work trying to keep a 17 month old and a 13 year old occupied at the same time lol x
