Timescales

Can anyone advise me on this.
There are 5 of us in the chain, the 4 at the top have been in the chain since March and are all ready to exchange.
The one at the bottom is a new FTB having just put an offer in on my buyers property to compete the chain again. He is seeing a mortgage adviser today and is going to buy all the searches from the solicitors(they have already all been done as the previous buyer backed out 2 weeks ago).
He'll obviopusly need to ge this mortgage agreed and surveys done and then sign contracts.
Can anybody give me any idea of a timescale as to when we'll exchange???
Completion is going to be 4 weeks after exchange as people have already had that agreed.
Thanks

I am a first time buyer, as is the person in the chain you are waiting for.

I put in my mortgage application last week and have been told it will be between 4 and 12 weeks before I get an offer back. There is then all the other bits to be done once the mortgage offer is received so I wouldnt start packing yet.

Although, there are contrasting views on here with the timescale so I suppose each one is different.
  • Im a first time buyer too, my mortgage offer came around a week after my application went in.
