Advice on repairing crack in outside wall

I have got a massive crack on the outside wall. between the neighbour's conservatory. It is a shared wall but it is really the neighbours as it is part of her conservatory. When I bought the house months 6 months ago, I did notice the crack, the previous owners have built a lean on roof and that space is open and you could use it as a sort of verandah. It does not really form part of the house except the previous owners have made use of the wall. I am thinking is it possible for me to fill the crack & paint over it. I did talk to my builder about it, but he was not really interested, he said he needed to cut it out and fill. I did mention it to the neighbour and she has a big crack in her conservatory but on different side of the wall. She does not seem to be bothered as she said she did ask her insurance but they were not interested. I guess, I can leave it as it is but it annoys me and I hope I could get some advice what to do with the crack!! Thanks

Can you not just get your builder to cut it out and fill it? If it's not actually part of your house structure I wouldn't worry too much about it, just tart it up a bit.0

put up some fence panels and hide it from view.

He does not seem interested as he specialises in old property and he is so busy. It is not actually part of the house, I guess I will try to tart it up thinking of doing a mural.

You need to store the picture on the web. I use http://photobucket.com/ then they provide very easy to use links that you can paste into posts.0

Thanks, hope I have done it right!! You cannot see the crack on the wall with that pic, it is more on the right. Next time I will take a pic of the crack and post it. You can have an idea what I am talking about. The neighbour has got his conservatory on the other side of the wall.

Stricty, you will be commiting a trespass if you do any work on the neighbouring property without express permission
If you are going to do it, do not chop out and fill like your builder suggested- it needs a flexible joint to accomodate any movement
Instead fill the crack with a tube or two of silicone or polysulphide mastic (it comes in various colours) and smooth it off with your finger (coated in fairy liquid to stop it sticking to you). Polysulphide is better, but may only be available at proper builders merchants not the likes of B&Q
Or use a cover bead (timber or uPVC) and stick this over the crack with some "no-nails" adhesive0 -
