Best sat nav system?

I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right board so apologies if this is in the wrong board (techie or motoring perhaps??) but I was wondering if someone could recommend an easy to use sat nav system.
Ideally, I'd like one that shows exactly what lane you should be in (like TomToms XL Live) and does calculate the fastest route. I used my friends Garmin Nuvi the other day and it gave completely wrong directions  as well as letting us sit in traffic for ages so ideally those are situations I'd like to avoid! Also want somethign that will fit in my handbag.
QVCUK did an offer of £200 on Tomtom XL Live but I didn't really understand the deal and wasn't sure which of the XL LIves it was that made it so good.
I did look at tomtom but they had so many products I was really confused and couldn't see any comparison tool.
Appreciate any help given.

Thanks, that's an even wider choice than what I initially looked at, even more confused now!0

you could get a Tom Tom equivalent dependent on what phone you have.
Nokia, now offer free Ovi Maps (dependent on your model), your phone manufacturer might also offer something similar.

My battery isn't great on my phone.
Will still reconsider though so thanks for that.
I would also never buy another Nokia again after the fiasco I had with the N95.0
